By India Today Web Desk: Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has hinted that he could change his World Cup squad on Wednesday as the former Champions have a few injury concerns on their list.
Argentina secured a 5-0 win over the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, which was their warm-up match before the mega event in Qatar. The Albiceleste has been dealing with a lot of injuries ahead of the tournament with Defender Cristian Romero and forwards Nicolas Gonzalez, Alejandro Gomez and Paulo Dybala being left out of the friendly match against UAE as they’re still on the road to recovery.
The full squad of Argentina is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Emiliano MartÃnez, Gerónimo Rulli. Franco Armani
Defenders: Nahuel Molina, Gonzalo Montiel, Cristian Romero, Germán Pezzella, Nicolás Otamendi, Lisandro MartÃnez, Marcos Acuña, Nicolás Tagliafico, Juan Foyth
Midfielders: Rodrigo De Paul, Leandro Paredes, Alexis MacAllister, Guido RodrÃguez, Alejandro Gómez, Enzo Fernández, Exequiel Palacios
Forwards: Ãngel Di MarÃa, Lautaro MartÃnez, Julián Ãlvarez, Nicolás González, JoaquÃn Correa, Paulo Dybala, Lionel Messi
After the friendly against UAE, coach Scaloni admitted that the Albiceleste could make changes to their squad before the World Cup starts as they have a few problems with players.
The manager said that he would not drop players from the squad due to their performance but due to the injuries they have.
“We have a few problems, we have days to decide on the list … We can change, hopefully not, but there is a possibility,” Scaloni told reporters.
“I’m not saying they are going to be dropped from the list. There are players who are not well, who have been left out of the squad today because they were not fit to play or there was a risk.
“We have to be cautious because there is a reason why they were left out.”
FIFA rules state that teams can replace players in their World Cup squads up to 24 hours before their opening match. Argentina will face Saudi Arabia in their first match of the tournament on 22nd November.
