Cristiano Ronaldo remains optimistic about Portugal’s chances at the World Cup, saying that the team will be competitive throughout the tournament in Qatar. Ronaldo has been named as the captain of the Portuguese side.

By India Today Web Desk: Cristiano Ronaldo has delivered his verdict on Portugal’s chances at the FIFA World Cup, saying that he is very optimistic and is looking forward to the tournament.

Ronaldo comes into his fifth World Cup, leading the Portuguese attack once again. Many feel that this would be Ronaldo’s last chance at lifting the trophy.

Speaking to Piers Morgan, the superstar said that he is very optimistic about Portugal’s chances at the World Cup. He said that they have a fantastic coach and a good generation of players in the squad.

While Ronaldo admitted that the tournament is going to be tough, he expects Portugal to be competitive and said that everything is possible.

“I am very optimistic. We have a fantastic coach, we have a good generation of football players. I’m looking forward that we’re going to an amazing World Cup,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan for TalkTV.

“It’s gonna be tough. Extremely difficult. But everything is possible, of course, we’re gonna compete.”

The 37-year-old also admitted that the World Cup in Qatar could be his final one as the Manchester United forward said that he wishes to play for two or three more years before hanging up his boots.

“I want to play two, three more years maximum. I want to finish with 40, it will be a good age. But I don’t know. Sometimes you plan one thing for your life and as I told many times, life is dynamic,” Ronaldo said.
