IPL 2023 Retentions: SunRisers Hyderabad, who released their captain Kane Williamson and big-hitter Nicholas Pooran, will head into the mini auction in December with the biggest purse of Rs 42.25 crore.

By India Today Web Desk: Punjab Kings, as usual, will head into another IPL auction with one of the biggest purses as the former finalists will have Rs 32.20 crore for the mini-auction ahead of the 2023 season. All 10 teams announced their list of retained and released players on the deadline day on November 15, giving a clear picture of what to expect from the mini-auction.

SunRisers Hyderabad, who let go of their captain Kane Williamson and big-hitter Nicholas Pooran, will have the highest purse of over Rs 40 crore for the auction as they look to make amends for some questionable buys from the mega auction.

The mini-auction for IPL 2023 is likely to be held on December 16 in Kochi.

On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders will head into the auction with the lowest purse of Rs 7.05 crore. KKR were active in the trading window, securing the services of Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals, and Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Kolkata Knight Riders. However, they are left with a little too less for 11 slots to fill, including 3 overseas slots at the mini-auction.

SunRisers Hyderabad were active as they released their captain Kane Williamson and big-hitting West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran.

5-time champions Mumbai Indians released as many as 13 players, including Kieron Pollard, Tymal Mills among others.

Chennai Super Kings also let go of one of their stalwarts, releasing one of their biggest match-winners in Dwayne Bravo.

On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants helped raise a few eyebrows by releasing the likes of Jason Holder and Dusmantha Chameera.

Punjab Kings released their former captain Mayank Agarwal after opting to hand over the reins to Shikhar Dhawan.

Royal Challengers Bangalore opted for stability as there weren’t many surprising omissions Sherfane Rutherford.


Keep in mind, an amount of Rs 5 crore, above the cap of Rs 90 crore was added to the purse of each team for IPL 2023 auction.
