By India Today Web Desk: All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz reckoned that Bangladesh batters need to show responsibility in their upcoming ODI series against India. The Young Turk reckoned that the Tigers need to score around 280 to 300 to have any chance of competing against the Men in Blue.
Mehidy was of the opinion that scores of 250-260 aren’t safe by any means in an era where batters tend to dominate the game.
“In today’s ODI cricket, we need to score 280 to 300 runs for bowlers to fight. Thanks to god, we are performing well in the format and scored above 300 as well. Scores of 250-260 aren’t safe nowadays and you have to score 280-300. Batters have to take responsibility. The top five batters in the team can’t afford to give away wickets and that’s when a score of around 300 will be possible,” Mehidy was quoted as saying in BDcrictime Bangla.
Mehidy also mentioned that Bangladesh players need to show a lot of mental strength while facing India in the white-ball format.
“International cricket is always challenging. The most important thing for a bowler is the ability to handle pressure. I like to take challenges whenever I play. We have to be mentally strong in the matches against India. We have to improve on certain aspects. If we can improve, then we will be more successful,” he added.
Bangladesh are scheduled to lock horns with India in three ODIs on December 4, 7 and 10 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
The ODIs will be followed by two Test matches in Mirpur and Chattogram respectively.
As far as Mehidy is concerned, he is currently taking part in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at home.
