Want to live together with family: Nalini | India News – Times of India

CHENNAI: Nalini Sriharan, who has been released after 31 years of imprisonment in the Rajiv Gandhi assasination case, wants to bring her family together and live with them. She said her daughter Harithra is a green card holder in the US and added there is a possibility for parents of green card holders to stay with their children in the US.
“When in prison, I imagined I was living with my husband and child. Now is the time to realise the dream,” she said on Sunday. Her priority is getting her husband Sriharan out of the refugee camp in Trichy. “I request the state government to release him,” she added.
Asked how Sriharan felt about the release, Nalini said, “He thinks it is a miracle. He thought it would take some more time.”
Nalini said that she would like to meet chief minister MK Stalin but is apprehensive about how it will be perceived. The people she wants to thank include former Supreme Court judge Sathasivam, for commuting their death sentence, J Jayalalithaa for her decision to release them, AIADMK member and former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for passing a resolution, and Stalin for granting her parole for one year. She wants to visit memorials of Jayalalithaa and Abdul Kalam to pay respects.
Priyanka was emotional’
About Priyanka Gandhi meeting her in prison in 2008, Nalini said the former asked about the incident in which her father was killed. “She was very emotional,” Nalini remarked.
Despite the passage of time, Priyanka’s “wounds” caused by her father’s killing didn’t heal when she met her. Apparently, by using the word “wounds” Nalini referred to the aspect of emotional trauma.
